I'm Vladimir Rakic, a licensed Registered Psychotherapist based in Mississauga and Etobicoke, ON - here to assist you through life's most complex and challenging matters. I genuinely care about my patients' well-being and embrace a client-centered approach to counselling. Having a client-centered approach means that I change my theoretical approach to fit your unique needs, background and personality. Not every method works for each person and every situation, and therefore I make sure that I do my best to work with my clients to find an approach that suits them best.

 

Since 2009, I have dedicated my life to developing a client-centered, well-rounded and non-judgmental approach to guide people through life's most challenging situations. I received undergraduate degrees in both Psychology and Religion & Culture from Wilfrid Laurier University. After this, I finished two master's degrees, one in Religion and Culture from Wilfrid Laurier University, and the other in Psychotherapy and Spiritual Care from Martin Luther University College. Through my studies, I have had the privilege of studying ways of healing the mind and soul both through secular psycho-therapeutic methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Buddhist and Mindfulness-based psychology and Spiritually integrated and Existential Therapy - as well as learning how various spiritual and religious traditions, and their leaders, approach mental health issues, and life's big questions in general. Through my studies, I visited, interviewed and lived with Indigenous Tribes in North America and the Amazon, various Eastern Orthodox Christian and Buddhist monasteries, and spent time with Islamic Communities and their religious leaders. Only when my clients invite me I can integrate techniques and teachings from these traditions within the sessions to ensure that my clients receive a tailored treatment plan that first uniquely to their needs. My knowledge of different cultures and religions has also allowed me to work successfully with individuals a wide from different backgrounds and belief systems, both secular and religious.

 

I have used this knowledge and experience to guide individuals struggling with addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, shame and other mental health concerns as a behavioural counsellor at a long-term care facility for people with histories of addictions for over four years. I have also worked with families that were refugees and provided mental health support to them and their children for four years. I volunteered with Special Olympics and coached a soccer team for two years, and am still working with individuals that have Autism and FASD in a residential setting. After this, I became a Registered Psychotherapist. My work expanded to working with Individuals (Adults & Children), Families, and Couples that struggled with a wide variety of mental health concerns. I finished my internship and continue to volunteer for KW Counselling Services. After finishing my internship, I worked as a Family and Children's Therapist in Mississauga. During my time in Mississauga, I decided to open up my own practice and Vladimir Rakic Psychotherapy was born.

Insurance and Fees

Although most insurance plan accept these services if you are planning on on submitting your receipts to your insurance provider please make sure that they cover Registered Psychotherapist.

Vladimir's rate is $180 CAD plus HST for an hour session, and most major insurance would cover his services. 

Alexandra's Rate is $150 CAD plus HST and is also covered by most insurance plans.
